Dr. Seuss Baby Shower

Four women that I work with are pregnat and due around the same time so we had a combined baby shower for all of them. Kelse a former employee at CHA and I threw them a Dr. Seuss themed shower. It was a lot of fun to make the decorations for it and it all came together an hour into the baby shower ha. Some people from work were helping with food and it wasn't brought for a while but it all turned out ok. I was just freaking out a little bit... and the first people to show up came fifteen minutes late so I was worried no one was coming but it had a pretty good turn out. We just played a couple relaxed games and ate food, and talked, and opened presents. It was fun to do! And a mom from the school we work at made a way cute Dr. Seuss cake for us. I can tell it was a lot of work for her and she did a great job.

This was the matching red and blue items and the other egg and ham sandwhiches were on the non matching table

Close up of the cake

Cutest detail of the cake!

Party favors (bags of swedish fish since you can't tell)

Garland with Dr. Seuss quotes hanging from it for a game

I just made these for the baby gifts. I wish I would have taken pictures of the jungle ones but I had already wrapped them when I remembered I needed a picture still.
Sorry all the pictures are a little dark because it was in a basement and it was dark outside!

Ropes Course

Last weekend Casey and I went to see Sky Fall on friday night. We just went to the Payson theater so we were sure to get tickets. It was nice to be inside while it was snowing outside! Then we had to walk to the car in tons of slush. The movie was pretty good, I fell asleep during the first 007 movie and never saw the second one so I don't have much to compare it to but it was entertaining.

Saturday Casey and my brothers all got together to play the new Halo video game while the girls worked on crafts. Chels and I watched a chick flick that I hadn't seen in a while and Courtney came and ruined it by making fun of it:) It was kind of cheesy but hey a lot of chick flicks are. I was working on decorations for a babyshower I was throwing and I'll post anothe post with all the pictures of how it turned out! After the boys were done playing (actually we had to leave otherwise I think they would have played all night) we headed to the Provo Beach Resort with Casey's family. We all played a game of bowling then Casey, Shelby, Andy and I went on the ropes course. I don't like the bowling ally, the pins are attached to chords and they fell down when you didn't hit them and sometimes if you hit them they didn't fall down. I don't think we will ever play bowling there again. The ropes course was pretty fun, it wasn't as scary as I was hoping it would be but it was fun to try it out.

iPad Peacock and More

I figured out how to add my paintings from my ipad so you can actually see the picture! I'm so excited about it. Here are some I've been working on, and I reposted a couple of them now that the picture quality looks a lot better!

Peacock

This one I was actually in St. George and had a dream about this painting and woke up while my husband was still sleeping and painted it. It didn't turn out like my dream and it's not the best painting but it was fun to play around with the different mediums that the Art Rage 3 program can do!

Oats

White House

Reflection

I'm excited get some more done! This program is amazing and I can't believe all the stuff you can do on it. It helps me get my jitters about painting out because I'm not using up my expensive paints to just play around. It will help me plan out a painting first and then recreate it with actual paints.

New Calling

Today was a great Sunday. Last night I got a call asking to meet with Brother Harris who is actually my brother in law that we live with. I had to go all the way to the church to meet with him which is kind of funny. I thought I was going to be called into nursery because they have asked me to sub a couple times in there while they waited for someone to be called to the position. I also didn't think I was going to be released form scouts because nursery wouldn't interfere with that calling. To my surprise that wasn't the call I got at all. I have been called to be the Personal Progress specialist in the young womens and I am so excited for it. I am being released as the bear den leader which has been a good experience but I don't mind being released ha. Scouts is great but I've been in it a year and still don't feel like I know what's going on and what awards and such the boys can receive.

This is personal to share but I want to express my feelings of the day and my blog is my journal so read if you want but this is mostly for me to remember:).

After Todd told me what I was being called to he told me that the Bishop had said this was his strongest impression that he had received to put someone in a calling. He said that he received the revelation that I was going to change girl's lives and needed to be in there. Lately I have been feeling...unwelcomed I guess in my ward which I know is partly my own fault for not including myself more. My ward really is wonderful I think I was just having a pitty party because we don't have people we have become close friends with. After he told me this I just felt like I had a bigger purpose in this ward. I'm so grateful to my Heavenly Father who knows me and is aware of how I am feeling. He is guiding my life everyday even when I don't ask him for something specifically.

I'm excited about the new calling but at the same time I'm nervous. I'm supposed to receive my own revelation to know which classes I attend because with my calling I'm able to float between classes and be where I'm impressed to be. I hope I can do a good job and actually can touch the lives of the girls in my ward. I know that this calling will probably benefit me more than them and I'm grateful for the blessing it will be in my life.

The Church is true:)

Zombies Attack!

For Halloween this year we went to the D.I. clear back in September. We went looking for a creepy doll outfit for me and a chuckie outfit for Casey. We couldn't find what we wanted for Casey and then I found a white dress in the wedding section that I loved! We decided to be dead people with rotting skin. Kind of like an old fashioned photograph that the people were dead in. At least that's what we were going for...everyone called us zombies though.

On Oct. 27th my brother and sister in law had a Halloween party that was lots of fun. We had delicous french dip sandwhiches and of course tons of treats. Rhonda made lots of minute to win it games and we were split up into three teams. We were with my brother's friends Katie and Spencer and we kicked butt! Ok we actually tied with another team and then won the tie breaker so it wasn't a butt kicking but we still won:) The funniest minute to win it game of the night was a headband with a step counter on it and the person wearing it had to nod their head and get 125 clicks in a minute. The first two girls that went were both under 100 and then my brother in law Marc went and was crazy! He looked like he was having a seizure the entire time and nodded his head so fast he got 142 ha. I bet he didn't feel good at all after that! Casey and I also won scariest costume at the party. We were kind of the only scary costume there but it still is cool to win!

Our makeup was made with toilet paper and elmers glue. Yep that's it! Then I put makeup over the top of it and painted Casey's teeth. This took 2 hours to do and then as soon as we started eating dinner and moving our faces the scabs around our mouths started to peel off. Fun for a bit though!

On Halloween we didn't even dress up in our zombie costumes. That day at school the teacher and paras in the class I work in all dressed up as crayons. It was a cute idea! I was a blue crayon and I wore my bright blue pants, a black shirt with a felt square that I painted crayola on and then a blue cone hat. It was a simple cute costume. That night Casey had school until pretty late so I headed to my parents house where my mom made my cousins, siblings, and I declicious soup. Then I went trick or treating with my siblings and my adorable niece and nephew who were both bunnies. Well one was a rabbit in a black hat and the other was a cute bunny with a pink tutu. Lots of fun to go trick or treating with them for their first time even though they are still to young to really know what's going on. We visited with some neighbors and Casey caught up with us after school. We stayed at my parents to watch the 1984 Children of the Corn movie. If you haven't seen it, don't waste your time! It was ridiculous. Horrible graphics, bad acting, and all about children killing people. At least it wasn't scary so I ddin't have to go home scared that night. I'm kind of paranoid and don't do well with scary movies.

November 3rd we actually had another halloween party. It was just the best date I guess that worked out with all of Casey's friends from Lehi. We again took the 2 hours to get ready in our costumes then headed to visit with Casey's parents before heading to Nate's house for the party. We just talked for most of the time and then played a game near the end that was extreme pictionary. There was a list of 10 halloween items and once you guessed a picture you had to run to the judge and get the next word from them. Our team won it and out of our winning team everyone voted for the best costume and Casey and I won that one.

We decided to try and look a little bit more like zombies this time with more blood and I wanted to do the teeth thing like Casey this time. It was a fun costume but it took too much time for the little amount of time that it stayed on.

Parachute, All American Rejects, and Boys Like Girls Concert

This past Tuesday the 23rd started off as a crazy day! I woke up with a sore throat and got a text from the teacher of my class I work in saying she was sick and wasn't coming in today so I was running the class. It turned out to be a pretty good day with the kids except the talking all day hurt my throat pretty bad. That night I headed out to Zupas to eat with the girlies I was going to the Parachute, All American Rejects, and Boys like Girls concert with. It was my bestie Mckenzie, my little sis Chels (who isn't so little anymore, holy cow she's a senior in high school!) and four of her best friends. Let me just say the turkey avocado panini  and the mushroom soup are both to die for at Zupas!

We headed to the concert and missed the Orem band Chasing Chance which Mckenzie was very disappointed about, she had been looking forward to seeing them more than the other bands I think. We got there pretty early and were able to get a descent distance from the stage. Parachute started the show and they were the band that we all were most excited to see. They didn't let us down at all! My favorite part of parachute though was when Chelsea my sister held up a heart and when Will the lead singer pointed at her because of it she had a bit of a freak out haha. She called it having a moment with him. After Parachute was done they said they would be up above the concert area to meet people. We went there to see them and when we were walking to get in line guess who walked right past us to get to the front of the line, the whole Parachute band. Chelsea had just told Mckenzie that we needed to act cool and when she saw them walk by it was like she didn't know what cool or even normal meant :). We got to meet the saxophone player and Will the lead singer. We got a picture with him which further made Chelsea's night.

My husband isn't very fond of this picture:)

After Parachute it was the All American Rejects. We didn't have as close of spots since we left to go meet Parachute but it turned out to be more fun because we had more room to dance around instead of being plastered next to the people all around us. All American Rejects was a huge let down. Not that their music wasn't good but the swearing and extremely crude jokes just ruined it for all of the people I was with. I'm pretty sure he was trying to make a statement that said, hey I'm in Utah but I will still say whatever I want and I don't care about anyone one but myself. When you come to Utah you should try to be considerate of your fans and change your language! We don't want to hear the f word over and over again. We went to get a drink when we were fed up with his talking and saw the many other people sitting around waiting for the All American Rejects to be done. We ended up lyrical dancing away in the gym above the seats and it ended up being one of my favorite parts of the night. The best song they put on was Swing Swing which everyone knew and sang and danced along to.

After All American Rejects I was trying to decide if I was ready to leave. My throat was killing me and the rest of my cold was starting to hit me. I didn't think I knew many of their songs but my sis convinced me to stay and I'm really glad I did. They were the most fun to watch perform out of any of the bands. Parachute I loved the music the most but Boys like Girls had awesome stage presence and put on a fantastic show. I ended up knowing enough of their songs to sing along and have fun with it. After they pulled a girl on stage to sing Two is Better than One with them in place of Taylor Swift I couldn't stay any longer. My legs were so tired and I was feeling very sick. So Kenz was nice enough to come with me and I dropped her off and headed home. After the adrenaline of the concert wore off while I was driving my head started pounding and I knew I was not going to feel well at all the next day. Sore throats aren't so fun to have at concerts because singing along to songs is one of the best parts and I just couldn't do it for many of the songs but other than that it was a blast and I loved dancing away with my sissy and the fun group I was with.

Super Saturday Craft

On Oct. 20th our ward had their super Saturday full of lots of fun cooking classes, book reviews and best of all...Crafts! I only signed up for one craft and I'm glad I did because it took longer than expected due to all the sanding.

I first started off the day by waking up and getting ready way earlier than usual on a Saturday and went to the store to make a big crockpot of soup to the event. I didn't realize how long the darn soup would take, it took me double the time than I had planned for it! Then of course on the way over to the church it spilled out on every turn because I made so much. I wasn't too happy starting off the day. Once I got to making my craft though it helped calm me down!

Here are my family blocks I made. They had chosen great crafts to do and I loved this one. It matches my blue and black table pretty well.

This was my favorite block
Oh and it was my first Modge Podge project that didn't bubble on me. I finally know how to work with it so I'm excited about that.

Fall Break Trip

For fall break my husband and I headed to St. George with his family. Thursday night we had planned on going to Tuacchan to watch Aladin but unfortunately the few rainy days that happen in St. George decided to happen while we were there. We arrived a half hour early to the show and they had us stand around for a half hour after the show was supposed to start while they decided if they were going to cancel the show. At one point the rain was lightly sprinkling and they began cleaning the seats off but then it decided to pour again. We get our money back for the tickets but I'm pretty disappointed that we didn't get to see the show, I'm sure it was amazing! They always do well with their disney renditions.

Excited to be in St. George!
Bundled up to watch a show in the rain

Unfortunately all we got to see of Aladdin was the board we put our heads through and the posters they had of the cast.

The next day in St. George was also rainy so we mostly hung around the condo, played games, got in the hot tub, and went out to eat at Benja's a delicious Thai and Sushi restaurant.

Saturday was finally a nice sunny day! We enjoyed the weather by biking the day away. We went on two bikerides, one out on church road in Hurricane, and another on the Bear Claw right behind our condo. So much fun! My legs were pretty tired after the two rides.

Looking good in our hot helmets
We loved our time in St. George! It feels like home being there. I only lived there for two years but it felt so great being back there. We just might end up living there some day as long as more family moves with us!

Gala Crochet Items

I'm pretty bummed out, I completely forgot to take pictures of everything I made for my school's upcoming Gala. I did take pictures of some things before I had finished them and a picture of my work table that I'll post. There aren't pictures of the two baby girl hats or the two baby boy hats I made....but I'm sure I'll make lots of them in the future.

Gotta have my Dr. Pepper while working

They looked much cuter when they were finished but that's the only picture I have! I made 8 baby headbands, 4 adult headbands, 2 baby boy hats, and 2 baby girl hats. It kept me a little busy! I plan to open up an etsy shop one day but I need to start making my own patterns for that. Anyone have any tips to go about creating an etsy shop?? I'd love some pointers!

Chunky Scarfs

Here are pictures of the scarf I gave my mom for her birthday, and also the one I made for myself. I followed the tutorial from this blog. I did however switch it up for the one that I made for myself.

The one for my mom. Followed the pattern just right

This one the edged are scalloped instead of ending on the straight rows. I like it better this way but that's just me

Not a cute picture of me at all but I wanted to show the little bit different of look this one has. I made it thinner and a little shorter also.

Paintings I never Posted

I've worked on quite a bit of different paintings but not many of them have gotten finished. I'll be doing a lot of them on the Ipad and then from my favorites of those I'll actually paint them. Here are a couple that I've done recently. Comments, critiques, all welcome! Excpet don't be too mean....I am learning here:)

This one hasn't been glazed so it will look better after that.

Wow I'm realizing I need a much better camera to get better pictures of my paintings to post...hopefully for Christmas! (hint hint Casey;))

Great Week and Ipads

I haven't posted in a while so I will give a quick update on what has been going on then I will show some paintings on my ipad I've been doing.

Our little ferret Ringo has been sold. My earlier post about our ferret being so great is still ture...but when you don't have your own place and your ferret decides he likes to tear apart carpet to sharpen his nails, he has to go. I would love to get another ferret some day when we have our own place and a tile or wooden floor room to put it in. It's been sad and I keep thinking that it's time to get Ringo out of his cage, then I remember he isn't here. Hope he is enjoying his new home!

Conference weekend was pretty great because I got to get a ton of crafts done. I crocheted like crazy while watching over the weekend. I made a chunky scarf for my mom and then loved it so much I made one for myself. Then I made baby and adult headbands for my school's upcoming Gala. It is our biggest fundraiser of the year and since I hate asking people for free things I decided to just make a bunch of things myself. Over conference weekend and up until today I have made 8 baby headbands, four adult headbands, and two baby boy earflap hats. My husband hasn't gotten much of my attention lately ha. Pictures of all the things I've crocheted to come.

On Monday It was my wonderful Momma's birthday. She is 49 years old, not that she would like me to announce it, but for 49 she looks GOOD! I can't even believe she is almost 50 because she really does look so young. The only way to tell how old she is is by looking at how old her kids are and the fact that she has two grandbabies. I love my mom so much and hope I look like her when I'm her age. We all ate out at La Jolla Groves at the Riverwoods mall in Provo which is a little bit on the fancy side but we had our whole family and babies that were eating snacks brought by their moms and silverwear being thrown, and my brother in law Marc spilled water all over the table and down onto my lap. From my backside it looked like I had peed my pants. So we probably stuck out a little bit sicne we weren't as fancy as the other people dressed in suits. Afterwards we went to my sisters and had a delicious pumpkin better than anything cake that Courtney found on pinterest. It was great!

This week I have won $100 worth of fabric from Skye Reve Fabrics that I am very excited about and can't wait for my shipment to come so I can get sewing. Also it is our fall break at the school I work at so we are heading to St. George. See what a good week it is?

Ok long post so far, but I do want to share some paintings from the ipad. We bought one recently for a really good price on KSL and I have loved it! And no not for games or anything like that, for an awesome painting program where I can make paintings without spending money on paints! I can figure out how to paint it and it will make it go so much faster when I go to paint it with actual paints. Here's a couple!

And apparently I need to find a better way of uploading the paintings because that quality is really bad! Hmm...I'll work on that one. Thanks for reading!

Church Bag #2

Before Mother's Day of this year I started a church bag for myself. When Mother's Day came along I put mine aside and made one for my mom. I finally picked mine up again and finished it! It was more complicated than the one I made for my mom and was never motivated enough to finish it until a couple weeks ago and now I'm finally making a post about it!

Here is the finished project:

The magnets on the pockets a extremely strong which makes the pockets hard to open which isn't my favorite, and I also accidently put the straps going the wrong way ha. Instead of one strap going on the front and one on the back I put one end of them on the front and hooked the otherside to the back so it doesn't sit quite right when you put it on your shoulder:(. Unfortunately I figured this out after I had sewed the lining into the bag and am too lazy to fix it! Other than that I love the end product.

Labor Day

For most of the day Casey and I were just relaxing and enjoying the day off from work. I read on my kindle and Casey played his video games. We did go on a bikeride to a trail that we have always wondered where it goes. It is a little path off on your left as you are going from Spanish Fork into Salem. It wasn't a long trail at all and it was nice and shady. It ends in a weird spot and you just have to turn around but it was good to finally know what was out there. Unfortunately I'm horrible at taking pictures and don't have any to share:(.

We rode our bikes to the delicious snow cone shack on spanish main with icecream in them then with very full stomachs and a nauseous Sydney we headed back home.

After our bikeride we finally got ready for the day and headed to BYU campus to hit up some bowling. Did you know Mondays are half price? We didn't either and ended up playing five games of bowling between the two of us. Everyone missed out that couldn't come along with us! Casey and I were pretty evenly matched throughout the whole thing. First game I won 114 to 113, second game Casey won 101 to 100, third game we both didn't even break 100 and were different by two poins (Casey winning) and the 4th game we can't even remember the score ha but I won it. Casey said the last one was for all the marbles of the night. We made a deal that winner got a back massage and the loser had to do a dare. Casey won it 142 to 121, hey I put up a good fight! Now we just need to hold up on our deals. I wish I would have made Casey do a dare at the bowling ally, I had some pretty funny ones up my sleeve but forgot about it as I was walking out to the car. He's dodged a bullet this time!

Covered Seats and Blue Table

Here is my table before I started my project

I painted it and our stools with four coats of blue paint and then covered the stools in fabric.
Her is a tutorial on how to cover stools!

Materials needed:
1 yard of material
1/4" elastic around 2 yds of it.
Wood glue if you want them to stay more put on the seat.
(Note: I used this much fabric to cover 4 seats. Also tutorial is for one seat cover, repeat to make more.)

1. Lay your stool upside down and trace the circle added a 1/4" seam allowance. I held my pencil strait down from the edge of the stool and it gave me the 1/4" allowance that I needed because of the shape of the stool.

you can angle you pencil in to trace the exact size of the circle and then add 1/4" seam allowance, Or:

You can put the pencil straight up and flat on your edge to get the extra 1/4".

My circle's diameter is 11 3/4".

2. Cut a strip that is 38" by 4". This is the circumference of the stool. If yours is bigger or smaller change the dimensions to fit yours.

3. Sew the ends of your strip together, right sides together.

4. Fold and iron strips 1/4". Once you have done this all the way around, fold another 1/2" and iron.

5. Edge stitch strip. Leave 1/2" hole for the elastic to go through.

6. Pin your circle and and the raw side of your strip together, right sides together.

Sew with 1/4" seam allowance.

7. Cut a piece of elastic 26" long. Put a safety pin at the end of the piece of elastic and thread it through your 1/2" hole on your strip. Sew ends of elastic together after you have pulled it through the whole strip.

Then sew the hole shut.

8. At the end they look like this

And here is my end product!

Fireworks

Last Saturday we had the great opportunity of taking our three neices to the Salem City days fireworks. It really was an opportunity! We had a lot of fun with the girls. We packed them up and got pillows and blankets and headed over to the Salem high school. We layed out on a patch of the grass and waited for the firworks to start. We were there almost an hour before they started which gave Ruby enough time to fall deep asleep, Haven to continually say she was bored ha and Halli was just having a ball bouncing on Casey and giving us faces like why in the world am I awake right now. We had to wake her up from her usual bed time so we could take them all. Once the fireworks started we couldn't get Ruby to wake up no matter what it was so funny! We even sat her straight up and she still slept. Halli loved staring at the fireworks. It was such a fun and memorable time!
Ugly of me but I had to put it up. Ruby is sleeping and Halli is crying because she didn't want to lay down.

Halli looking sleepy

Ruby sitting up...still asleep

Lagoon

For my summer break from work I wanted to do something really fun and Casey hadn't been to Lagoon for seven years, I hadn't been in three, so that's what we decided our fun trip would be! We went on a great day (we would recommend tuesday) that was not busy at all. In the first hour we were there we had hit all the major rides including the new ride for 2012. We had to sit down for a bit after that hour because we were both feeling a little sick. We realized we were a little too old to run between rides and hit one after another and not feel it. It was such a fun day! We didn't have to wait for longer than 15 min for a ride the entire day, and we were able to actually take time to visit the pioneer village that they have. It is awesome to see all the vintage clothes, carriages, guns, etc. that they have stored there. It was also cool to see the chapel, houses, and pictures of the pioneers and early members of the LDS church.
New ride, I liked it a lot!
Sick faces after the first hour

Wind-blown look after wicked

We did the big huge swing it was so much fun! I got a little scared when Casey pulled the trigger and we were falling without the chord being tight. Ah it was awesome!
Loved spending the day with my wonderful Hubby! Since all of our friends and family have babies we just went the two of us and it was so much fun just being together.
