Mixed Media Paintings

I've been taking an online class from Jeanne Oliver, an artist who inspires me so much. She is everything I want to be someday! She not only paints but she designs clothes and sells her clothing, and bag line and also vintage jewelry and items. I love her mixed media paintings and I was excited to take her class. I want to one day have a business like hers where I can sell my paintings and also clothes and crochet items that I make! I haven't gotten a ton of painting done while watching her videos but here are a couple that I did using some of her techniques. Check Jeane Oliver out here.

Backgrounds not my favorite on this one, but I like the girl and roses

Valentine's and Anniversary Getaway

We left February 13th in the evening to go on our Valentine's Day and 2 year wedding anniversary getaway. We headed to Midway to stay in the Worldmark condos there and I loved the little town. It was such a cute place I had never been too and we enjoyed driving on mainstreet and visiting some of the little shops on Valentine's Day. Also on that day we went swimming in the Midway Crater which neither one of us had ever done. We didn't rent snorkles because my sis said it wasn't worth it so we just enjoyed floating around and I loved that it was warm water but not too hot for the baby since I can't go in any hot tubs for a while. There was only a family of four, another couple and a single guy there so we had plenty of space and we got to watch a few scuba divers swimming below us. It was a neat experience!

Our two bedroom condo where we each got to sleep in our own beds. Just kidding we haven't been married quite long enough for that! We stayed in Valentine's Day night and cooked dinner there. Casey said it was the best meal I had ever made.

Baby's first swim! I think she liked it...I still haven't felt her though so who knows

Happy Valentine's

Outside of the condo

After Midway we headed to Park City for a day and visited the outlet stores there and drove up and down mainstreet to look at the houses and shops. We found great deals on some sweet jackets that we got two for $20 score! After that we headed to Salt Lake where our bed and breakfast was. We stayed at Wildflower Inn in old Salt Lake. It was a cute old house that we got to explore every room of because we were the first ones to arrive. Our room was adorable, a little small, but still really cute. It had an old fashioned tub and the doors were ones that opened from the middle and they didn't close all the way. We even later found out that when they were locked you could still push them open ha but nobody tried coming into our room while we were there. It was a cute place that if you want a little get away to I would recomend it! We thought you would be able to hear everyone but we really couldn't, it was almost weird because we figured since our door didn't close all the way people could hear us but their doors were thick enough (or they were all weirdos who didn't talk) that it was a quiet stay.

We walked around the gateway mall and went and saw the movie Beautiful Creatures which was a little weird but I liked it, I'm a weirdo who likes fantasy and I was excited to know it was based off of a book afterwards so I could read it!

Doors that didn't quite close

If you stay here, bring an extra blanket, it get's really cold at night, at least in the winter!

It's a Girl!

At 16 weeks I went to my aunt who is a delivery nurse and she did an ultrasound to try to see what our baby is. The baby was super uncooperative and had her legs crossed, held the umbilical cord between her legs, and was just in a position that we couldn't see in between her legs, just mostly her profile. It was so fun to watch her moving around in there! She was laying with her head down and her legs up abover her and she kept arching her back and putting her head back to stretch. I could have watched her all day! My aunt thought she was a girl but went to get a second opinion. While she was gone I held the ultrasound to my belly and got to continue watching her:). The second nurse thought she saw a boy part for a second but wasn't able to find it again so we came out of that ultrasound unsure of what the baby was for sure.

Yesterday I was at my sister's house hanging out and she has a girl in her ward that does ultrasounds and so we decided to call her up and see if she was available. She wasn't at home but she told us to come on over to her office. So we just did a gender reveal ultrasound and right away we were able to see that there were absolutely no boy parts and she was very much a girl! Casey wasn't with us at the ultrasound because he was working so I put a sign on the outside of the door saying It's a...and then when he walked in I had a pink girl sign with pink treats and a drink and her cute outfit we bought while we were on our anniversary get away. He didn't seem too surprised since we had already figured she was a girl but we are both happy to know for sure. Now I can get sewing!! I already have a ton of girl fabric because I won $100 worth from Skye Reve Fabric and can't wait to get crackin.

We had a boy name picked out but we havn't decided on a girl name yet. We have ones that we like but none that we are in love with and certain that that is our baby's name. I'm one that likes to have things decided and ready so I'm sure we will come up with her name soon!

He noticed it when he had already opened the door

Baby Items for Baby Timmy

One of my sister in laws just had a baby boy and named him Carson. I made him a blue hat that was supposedly newborn size, but when it was put on his head it was huge on him! I guess I'll make premie sizes from that pattern for newborns from now on. My other sister in law that we live in the basement of is having her baby sometime soon! If she doesn't go into labor soon, they are going to induce her because she hasn't been having the easiest time the last couple weeks poor girl. Here are some things I made for her baby Timmy when he comes.

Pregnancy

If you are a boy, you might now want to hear the details of finding out I was pregnant. Just warning.

Casey and I tried for what seems like forever to me to have a baby. We tried for 10 months and I can't even imagine what it's like to try for longer than that. I feel horrible for people that try for longer, especially when one person that did was my sister in law and it was much harder for her and took lots longer. I constantly thought I was pregnant throughout trying because of signs my body decided to make up to get my hopes up and my body would stress itself out and be between 4-6 days late. I took many pregnancy tests and had many nos come up. The last couple months we tried I wasn't as sad after a no because I had a feeling that it was going to happen soon. The month that we finally got pregnant I didn't track my ovulation and didn't worry about trying hard and low and behold it worked! It stinks knowing it was myself causing myself not to get pregnant but I know that it took us a long time because now is a much better time for us to be having a baby instead of a year ago. Heavenly Father knows what's best for us much better than we think we do or think we are ready for a certain blessing.

My sister Courtney had told me that the month she was pregnant her boobs hurt her a ton and right after she told me that was the month I started having soreness at 3 weeks of being pregnant. Holy cow sore boobs hurt really bad! Ha I couldn't sleep at night because I always sleep on my stomach. I was worried my body was just making up the symptom since she had told me that but I also was pretty sure that I was pregnant.  The Monday after Thanksgiving Break I told Casey that morning that I was late and thought I was pregnat. He didn't have much hope because I had told him this many months before but we waited until he got hom from work and I went in to take a pregnancy test. While I was peeing in a cup, my brother in law came downstairs and was talking to Casey which I was super embarrassed about because I figured he could hear me in the bathroom ha but once I came out they were both upstairs so I didn't have to face Todd right then. I waited for the pregnancy test to show and it was finally a yes! It was a bit unbelievable and it didn't sink in right away. Casey came down and I showed him the pee stick. We were both in disbelief but we were very happy! The next day I took another one just in case and it was still a positive:) Now we are having a baby in July! And we hopefully will be finding out the gender tomorrow ah I can't wait!!!

I've been super un-motivated the past two months and my house has been a mess, I haven't read a single book which is weird for me, and all I've done is been on my couch watching Grey's Anatomy. I had a good week at 12 weeks, then again at 14 which I didn't throw up from 14 weeks until a week and a half later which I just broke on Wednesday. I was hoping I would be able to say I didn't throw up at all after I entered 2nd trimester but it didn't happen.

9 Weeks

14 Weeks
And I am now 16 weeks and everyone is now noticing my belly even though I thougt it was completely noticable at 8 weeks.

This next part of the post is mostly for my memory only because lets face it, who doesn't want to remember all the crazy throw up experiences they've had ha. So if you don't want to hear about throw up, don't keep reading!!

Let's see if I can remember all these wonderful experiences. Basically what I eat is oatmeal, cereal, toast, and fruit. Oh and for some reason macoroni and cheese sounds pretty good occasionally. So these things have been thrown up many times and I doubt I will eat oatmeal very often after this pregnancy. Oatmeal when it comes up right after you eat it isn't too bad. If it's been sitting in your stomach for a while and comes back up it is awful. I ate a bowl of oatmeal and on the last bite I threw it back up into my bowl and it looks exactly like it did before I started eating it:). Ha I laughed pretty hard after that, and no I did not try and eat it again. I've started marking my territory outside of my family members houses. First it started with Courtney's house after we played games and met Chelsea's boy she is liking right now. We were giving Chels and Tanner a ride home after the games and as soon as I walked out into the cold air I threw up the orange and milk I had just eaten into the snow. I tried to cover it up with other snow but as soon as it started to melt apparently it preserved it in ice and Courtney and Marc got to see it for a while until it decided to snow again and cover it up ha. Then at my parent's house I was leaving on a Sunday and I had just eaten a bowl of oatmeal, walked to my car and threw up on the pile of snow right in front of my car. The next Sunday as soon as I walked in the door the first thing I was asked was, did you throw up in our snow? Haha sorry can't help it! I almost threw up at my brother and sister in laws house outside of their house but instead I waited until I got to my parent in laws and threw up there. At least it wasn't in their snow where it would be preserved. The cold air just seems to set me off when I'm hungry and a little nauseous. Or it's been our horribly poluted air.

Worst tasting throw up was when I was on my way home from work and I was really hungry because I didn't have any food leftover for a snack so I sucked on a lemon preggy pop on the way home. Threw up once I got home and all it was was a tiny bit of stomach acid that tasted even nastier because of the lemon flavoring it had. Bleh. Oranges have a horrible acidic taste also and hurt, and are chunky and nasty to throw up.

I just really hope my barfing comes to an end soon. My days have been great lately until about 7 at night where I get super nauseous again. At least I have some hours where I don't feel too horrible. My stomach pains have been worse since I hit 2nd trimester and I'm hoping they don't get even worse as I get even fatter. I love this baby but let me tell ya I sure haven't liked pregnancy! I always planned on five kids...I'm reconsidering this because I don't think I can handle this five times.

Playing Catch Up

Holy cow I haven't written a blog in AGES! I like to think I have a good excuse since I have been feeling sick the last two months or more but really it doesn't take that much effort to get on my computer and type away. So this blog is all about updating on the past three months!

In November we spent Thanksgiving with Casey's family in Manti. We had dinner at a church which was delicious and probably my last huge meal I ate before getting sick. So it was so good and I'm glad I was able to get through Thanksgiving before finding out I was pregnant and throwing up all the time. After dinner we put the tables away and played a big family game of volleyball. We had a game with the kids playing and then had a few games just with the adults. It's always fun to play with the Lunds! After Volleyball we played some dodgeball which turned out not to be my favorite because I hit a poor little kid right in the face with a ball. I felt so bad! At least I wasn't the only one...that kid had it rough! He got hit by other people and others ran him down. Pretty sure dodgeball isn't a good family game to play with kids and adults. But it was still a fun day.

Happy Thanksgiving! Our only picture taken. I need to get better at taking pictures...
December I tried to hide from the fam that I was pregnant. It was kind of easy because I had stomach pains and nausea before I was pregnant and I just put it off on that and "getting the flu." We announced it to Casey's family the weekend before Christmas when Andy and Shelby were up from Cedarcity. We made onesies one for Casey's parents. His mom's said, "there's no place like home except grandma's" and his dad's just said I love my grandpa. They were very surprised and had no idea that's what we were having them open. We waited to tell my parents and the rest of my family while we were at a family trip to a cabin up Big Cottenwood canyon that my Gramps rented for us. We did onesies for them too my mom's said I love my Nana and my dad's said, "if you think I nap a lot you should see my grandpa." I've never loved shirts that say things on them like that but I thought it would be fun to tell them with those sayings. I thought my family suspected but they said they were surprised too.

Christmas Eve was spent with my family this year and I was excited to be pregnant over Christmas because I thought I'd be able to eat whatever I wanted since I would be getting fat anyways but turns out this baby hates all sweets and I didn't eat a single Christmas cookie or treat the whole month. And our crab and shrimp traditional Christmas Eve dinner turned out to be salad and rolls for me. I was not feeling very good that night or Christmas day but Christmas is still a great time and I loved it. After breakfast and opening presents Casey and I just headed home because he wasn't feeling good either. We had to try and find somewhere to eat for dinner that night and tried China Wak in Spanish Fork....never again will I eat there. I don't know if it was prego taste buds or the food really isn't very good but never again! So we will never try to have Christmas dinner by ourselves again and will always go to family's since there is hardly anything open on Christmas night.

All the kids
My wonderful surprise present a new serger!
Casey's one surprise, a golf pass with 8 free rounds of golf. He'll need some time away from my crazy hormones and probably when we have the baby!
Tons of paper!
Our best present, a fat belly
Before Christmas we took a tirp with my fam, aunties, uncels, cousins, and grandparents to the Salt Lake Temple. We all took the tracks up to Salt Lake and we ate dinner in the food court at City Creek since there wasn't a restaraunt that could fit us all then headed to see the lights. Casey and I took off at one point to take some hidden pictures that we thought were funny to help us remember that we were pregnant when we went and no one else knew.

Sheep looking towards my baby

Othe than the big holidays, Casey has been working his new job that he started the day we found out we were pregnant which was such a blessing since it has given us health benefits and he's working lots and earning enough for us to save up for this baby and make it so if I want to I'll be able to stay home with my babes when they come. I've gone to working part time this semester so I just work MWF and Tuesdays I plan on painting with my dad which has only happened once because I've either been sick, working on stuff for Young Womens, and babysitting my nieces. Hopefully I'll be able to free up that day to focus just on painting! Thursdays are Casey and I's Saturdays because it's the only day during the week we both have the day off. Casey's schedule is really weird right now, he has Thursdays and Fridays off and works all the other days. They told him when he was hired he would be able to change his schedule but it's been harder than they made it out to be. Hopefully soon he will be able to have Saturdays and Sundays off like most people and we will have two instead of one day together during the week. Other than that we are just trying to get a little ready for this baby! We are excited and enjoying our last months together before we are never alone again ha. And that's the wrap!
