My beautiful sister Chelsea went off to her junior prom last night. I have always loved doing my own hair for dances. I think when you go and get it done, they don't always know what looks good on your face and I know what looks good on me so I just do it myself! Occassionally I get to do Chelsea's hair for her. The dance before prom she just wanted it down and curly and I am NOT the master at just curling hair. She had me do a friend's hair and that's all she also wanted but her hair wouldn't curl for me so I ended up pulling it up. I can do updos and that is about it! I told Chels no more doing her friend's hair unless they want an updo. Luckily last night that is what Chels wanted so an updo she got! While I was doing her hair my older sis Courtney was doing her makeup. Chels just had to stand there and everything else was done for her. She even insisted on calling us her slaves and directed us around all night. I guess a girl needs a night like that every now in then where she can be pampered. The end product was a success, Chels looked so beautiful. It made me miss high school and my wedding because I don't think I'll have many more events that I can dress up in a beautiful dress for.
Here are some pictures of her hair. Personally I think the hair looked much better than the pictures are showing it, pictures just never do hair creations justice. Maybe if I had a really nice camera....

Utah Jazz
This week has been a fun-filled Jazz week. On Saturday we went to the game against the Magic with my brother and sister-in-law. We didn't get the tickets until a couple days before so we were as far back as you could possibly get. The first quarter made it look like it wasn't going to be a very fun game because the Jazz fell behind quite a bit but of course it turned out to be great! My brother said he hasn't ever been to a game that the Jazz have lost and they have kept up his streak and mine (I've only been to two so it's not a hard streak to keep up with.) The last two minutes were such a blast with everyone standing up and cheering. Then on the way out of where we parked a car a guy ran up to our window to high five my brother and yell how awesome the game was and how awesome my brother was for giving him a high five back.
This Tuesday my sister and brother-in-law invited us over to watch the game over at their house. We don't have T.V. and Casey usually has to watch them on his computer so he was pretty excited to watch it on a T.V. screen. Courtney I don't think even made it five minutes through the first quarter before she was asleep on the couch. I at least made it to half time, then I was out on the bean bag. I was in and out and heard that they were winning every once in a while. I think the guys had fun though! The only problem with hanging out in Orem late at night is the loooong drive home to Salem. Guess we will need to move closer to family and friends soon!

Past Crochet Projects
I've always wanted to learn how to crochet so I went to walmart and picked up a book called I taught myself how to crochet. It was great! It definitely took me a while to figure out exactly what the book was showing me to do but after their helpful videos they provide with the kit I was able to get it. I love crocheting! I feel like there isn't a lot that I want to make for myself but there are lot's of cute things that you can crochet for babies and I'm excited to have my own to make things for.
For my niece Eleanor I made a newborn hat that looks much cuter on her than it does here but here it is.
I liked it so much I made one for my older niece. It took me a while to guess on how many stitches I needed to add to fit her head.
For my nephew Cannon I tried making him a hat that he could wear over his helmet that he needed to get to fix his head. I made it a bit bigger than his size to make sure it would go over the helmet and it ended up being huge! He will have to wait till next year to grow into it.
For winter I made myself and my friend Mckenzie for her birthday this hat. It looked cuter on me with my long hair but I'll still wear it with my short.
This bag was for my niece Ruby's birthday. She is one that loves to play dress up so I thought it would be perfect for that.
This past general conference that was on April Fool's day gave me an opportunity to work on another project. I crocheted flower headbands for three of my nieces but I tried to use them for an April Fool's joke by telling my family they were actually for our baby. My family at first didn't believe me but as I continued to try to convince them and started crying in the process they didn't know what to believe. I still don't know why I was crying, I guess because I really wish it were true! It ended up not being a very funny joke. Especially when my dad leaned in to give me a hug to congratulate me. Whoops!
Crocheting has been lot's of fun and it definitely is not just for old people! I love it and can't wait to make more baby things when I have kids of my own.
My first project was this scarf. I completely did it wrong for the first three layers and had to start all over but eventually got it.

It wasn't her favorite thing to wear |
His room is decorated in owls so it had to be an owl hat |
It hangs a bit in the back to make it a slouchy beanie |

One was opposite in color, and another one had a large flower with a small flower in the middle of it. |
Past Sewing Projects
I got my sewing machine three Christmases ago. I left it at my parent's home while I went away to college but have been sewing lots since I've been married. Here is a post of the sewing projects I have done over the past year.
These car seat covers were lot's of fun to make and I loved giving them as baby gifts. I've done a couple others too and I'm excited to try the new covers going on around on pinterest with the elastic around the bottom for windy days.
These adorable skirts were for my sister in law's, Shelby, flower girl's at her wedding. My other sister in law Heather and my mother in law April and I sewed 11 of these skirts while watching conference one weekend. The bottom is tule with flowers inside of it.
After learning how to make the skirt I made one for our friend's little girl for her 1st birthday
Again my sewing machine was still acting up around Christmas time so I ended up having to hot glue a lot of our stockings. I've got enough felt to make the rest of our kid's stockings as they come along into our little family.
While my sewing machine is still not working and needs to be serviced, I haven't been sewing and have picked up on crocheting. I hope my machine will be fixed soon because I've got my fabric all cut out for my next project!

They were adorable flower girls! |
I was sick of summer dresses all being short so I decided to make my own. My sister Courtney didn't thought I was crazy to try to make one and one day she called me and while slightly laughing asked me how my dress was coming along. I told her great and that it was almost done. She thought my reply was going to be a bit more frustrated.
I had to add five inches to the bottom to make it modest for my tall body |
For Halloween we wanted to be something original. This was one of my favorite costumes I've had and my husband's costume completed it perfectly. He was a samurai (whiche I did not make) and I was a geisha. I took a robe pattern and altered it to fit what I wanted.
Casey thougth he was pretty cool with his real sword |
This scarf and the two others I made like it for Christmas presents were a pain! They seemed so simple but I think something in my sewing machine wasn't quite right and the strings that I had to pull to get the ruffle kept breaking on me. Even though they took a long time to complete I did like the end product a lot.

Meaning of "Creative Intermediacy"
It took me a while to think of a name for my blog. I knew I wanted it to be about art, and other things that I have made but a name was difficult. I came accross the word intermediacy. When I thought of intermediacy I thought about the different levels of beginner, intermediate, and pro. Although my art work, sewing, and crocheting can probably be called an intermediate level, it's not quite what I wanted the blog to point out. There's another definition of intermediate that is used in chemistry. The definition is "a substance formed as a necessary stage in the manufacture of a desired end product." Creativity is just what that definition is for me. It is a necessary substance that holds me together and helps me though life. I hope it becomes an even more important, and necessity for my life as I strive to reach the "pro" level in my painting. I have my dad, grandpa, and uncles art work to look to and learn from. As I post my art work on my blog everyone will be able to watch me grow and become a better artist. Feedback on art, or any other sewing and crocheting projects will really help me as I try to be the artist that I aspire to be.
