Who wants to spend full price on a Boppy Pillow? Not me, $40.00 is a little much for something that you don't even know will work for your baby. So instead of buying a new one I found one at my school's garage sale for $1...hey I washed it, and then I recovered it spending $10.00 on the fabric, zipper, and thread. Basically I think $11.00 is much better than 40 and it really was in good shape otherwise I wouldn't have gotten it!
I just set the pillow on some paper, traced it, added a seam allowance, and sewed on the zipper. Lot's of patterns out there have the zipper going across the pillow instead of being on the edge, and I like this way better. Except it did bubble a little but I don't mind. It's a tiny bit big but I forgot to wash my fabric before I made it so it should shrink and fit just fine after washing it.

Dinosaur Taggie
At the arrival of my most beautiful baby in the world (no joke) nephew Harrison, I wanted to bring something to the hospital. I drew up a dinosaur and made it into a little taggie toy that hopefully Harrison will want to play with soon. Here it is, and it's real easy to make your own design of whatever animal you would like.
I don't know why the legs curved in a little, next time I try to make one I'll have to figure that one out. Also I had never handstitched a pillow or toy closed before and I definitley need someone to teach me the best way to do that instead of attempting it on my own.
Draw a picture and just add 1/4" seam allowance |

Baby Shoes
I've already made some of these shoes and posted the picture but this time I decided while I was going to make one pair, I might as well turn it into four pairs. They are lots of fun, they just require a lot of pinning and I got better at serging them by the last pair!
The boy ones are for my nephew Harrison soon to be born and the black paisley ones are for our little girl when she finally decides to come.

I'm sad it's grainy, I had to send it from my ipad to my e-mail and use my laptop to write the blog. Why does it have to be so difficult! |

Easter and Maternity Chevron Skirt
Easter was great this year but it could have been a little bit better had my husband been able to be there. His work has him working Saturdays and Sundays and he has Thursdays and Fridays off. I do not like this schedule in the least! They told him he'd be able to change it after working there for a few weeks....it's been four months and they still haven't let him change it. It's a bit frustrating but I'm able to go spend Sundays at my parents house which is ony fifteen minutes away.
This year we had all my siblings and two of my aunt's familys with us for an Easter meal. It was so warm on Sunday we got to eat outside and enjoy the beautiful weather and time celebrating Christ with family. After dinner we headed over to my aunt Kathryn's house where they had hid over 200 eggs! My mom didn't want me to feel left out from my younger siblings and niece and nephew so she hid eggs for me too. She's so sweet but I think I'm past the point of caring if I get Easter eggs or not. It will be fun to have our little girl with us next year!
The only problem with our family get together was we all decided to swap germs with each other and two days later half of my family, including Casey (which is weird because he wasn't even around the family) and I, started throwing up and other unmentionables. There are still members of my family that are catching it and are being added to the list of at least 13 people that I know of.
For Easter I made my own skirt following this lovely tutorial. The only problem with mine was the back where the ties are supposed to sinch it together, it tends to droop a lot and make my skirt look like it was supposed to be a high-low skirt which I guess is in style but it wasn't my intentions. I'm hoping it fits me and my growing belly for a long time! And after this pregnancy I'll probably shorten it and wear it at my hips.
I'm a little obsessed with coral right now because it's one of the colors I'm doing for my little girl's nursery, and I have enough of this material left to make an outfit for her! Prepare to see many coral items on the blog as I start posting the things I've been making for the nursery.

This one you can see the tie in the back a little bit. I need to remember to get things from all angles! |

Baby Items for Baby Timmy
One of my sister in laws just had a baby boy and named him Carson. I made him a blue hat that was supposedly newborn size, but when it was put on his head it was huge on him! I guess I'll make premie sizes from that pattern for newborns from now on. My other sister in law that we live in the basement of is having her baby sometime soon! If she doesn't go into labor soon, they are going to induce her because she hasn't been having the easiest time the last couple weeks poor girl. Here are some things I made for her baby Timmy when he comes.
Crochet hat comes from here, Peepee teepees from here, Bapron from here, and the shoes from here.

Church Bag #2
Before Mother's Day of this year I started a church bag for myself. When Mother's Day came along I put mine aside and made one for my mom. I finally picked mine up again and finished it! It was more complicated than the one I made for my mom and was never motivated enough to finish it until a couple weeks ago and now I'm finally making a post about it!
Here is the finished project:
Here is the finished project:
The magnets on the pockets a extremely strong which makes the pockets hard to open which isn't my favorite, and I also accidently put the straps going the wrong way ha. Instead of one strap going on the front and one on the back I put one end of them on the front and hooked the otherside to the back so it doesn't sit quite right when you put it on your shoulder:(. Unfortunately I figured this out after I had sewed the lining into the bag and am too lazy to fix it! Other than that I love the end product.

Baby Ties
I love baby ties! I made some for my adorable one year old nephew Cannon for his birthday. Now that he's one he needs to look like a little man right! Here are the ties I made him and the tutorial I followed can be found here.
I didn't have a collar to measure like she says to do to find the length of the part that goes around the neck but I found another website that said to do it 17 inches and that seemed to be a good length. I also had a hard time following how to tie the tie from the website she linked to so I found this website that shows it really well. I loved the leaf patterned tie so much I made another one for a friends baby shower. They are adorable!

Church Bag
Chels gave me the perfect idea for a gift to give my mom for mother's day. I had been working on a church bag for myself and my mom told me that Chelsea had told her that the bag she brought her stuff to church in was hideous. Perfect!
This is my mom's bag I made for her, made from the butterick B5197 pattern. My bag has been underway since before I started my mom's bag but I haven't had time to finish it yet. I just want a Saturday to stay at home to get projects done that I have started and not finished!
The bag and the one I'm making for myself turned out to be a little smaller than I thought they were going to be so you can't fit a binder and scriptures in them...but they are still cute. Hopefully I'll finish mine soon!

Past Sewing Projects
I got my sewing machine three Christmases ago. I left it at my parent's home while I went away to college but have been sewing lots since I've been married. Here is a post of the sewing projects I have done over the past year.
These car seat covers were lot's of fun to make and I loved giving them as baby gifts. I've done a couple others too and I'm excited to try the new covers going on around on pinterest with the elastic around the bottom for windy days.
These adorable skirts were for my sister in law's, Shelby, flower girl's at her wedding. My other sister in law Heather and my mother in law April and I sewed 11 of these skirts while watching conference one weekend. The bottom is tule with flowers inside of it.
After learning how to make the skirt I made one for our friend's little girl for her 1st birthday
Again my sewing machine was still acting up around Christmas time so I ended up having to hot glue a lot of our stockings. I've got enough felt to make the rest of our kid's stockings as they come along into our little family.
While my sewing machine is still not working and needs to be serviced, I haven't been sewing and have picked up on crocheting. I hope my machine will be fixed soon because I've got my fabric all cut out for my next project!

They were adorable flower girls! |
I was sick of summer dresses all being short so I decided to make my own. My sister Courtney didn't thought I was crazy to try to make one and one day she called me and while slightly laughing asked me how my dress was coming along. I told her great and that it was almost done. She thought my reply was going to be a bit more frustrated.
I had to add five inches to the bottom to make it modest for my tall body |
For Halloween we wanted to be something original. This was one of my favorite costumes I've had and my husband's costume completed it perfectly. He was a samurai (whiche I did not make) and I was a geisha. I took a robe pattern and altered it to fit what I wanted.
Casey thougth he was pretty cool with his real sword |
This scarf and the two others I made like it for Christmas presents were a pain! They seemed so simple but I think something in my sewing machine wasn't quite right and the strings that I had to pull to get the ruffle kept breaking on me. Even though they took a long time to complete I did like the end product a lot.
